Welcome Parents and Students!
Thank you for visiting our SchoolFusion class page created for you to get up-to-date information and news happening in our class. This valuable site has many resources for both parents and students to use throughout the school year. Please signup to our class page and complete all the required information in order to gain access.
Students are to visit their classroom page often to access the posted assignments, take online quizzes, engage in class discussion forums, view video content, listen to class podcasts, and review the calendar of events.
Parents can view all these valuable tools too! You can stay current with what is taking place in your child's science class and view dates of upcoming tests and projects. This page does not allow you to access your child's quarter grade. However, you can do so by registering through the school to gain access to the MMS Parent Portal. I highly encourage you to take full advantage of this page and the MMS portal.
If you have any questions about the course or our progress please don't hesitate to contact me! I am looking forward to working with you this year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Jason C. Jones
ABOUT ME
I am in my 9th year of teaching students about the many wonderful and exciting things of science. Whether you are a student enrolled in one of my Biology, Environmental, or Marine Science classes, I am sure you will come to appreciate, in some way, what science is and how it affects your everyday life just as it has mine. So please allow me to explain briefly how science became a love of my life.
When I was a young boy, I would often ride my bike around Tamaqua HS. One day I was riding across the lawn of the high school when I came across this amazing textbook entitled, "BIOLOGY." I remember quickly riding home and going up to my room to read what this "BIOLOGY" was all about. I was intrigued by what I was seeing as I flipped between the pages and just wanted to know a whole lot more. That opportunity came in Junior High School (7th-8th grade) when I had the opportunity to learn Life Science and Physical Science with Mr. Verbrosky. He made science cool and fun to learn. However, my four-chambered mammalian heart truly fell in love with science in high school. From 9th grade to 12th, I had so many amazing science teachers that opened the doors of learning for me to the various areas of science. They taught their subjects with love and enthusiasm that made me want to learn it all. One teacher especially, Mrs. Weinrich, surely accelerated the metamorphosis of me becoming a science geek. Her teaching exuded with love, passion, and excitement for biology, and soon the many curious things about that textbook I found as a young boy began to make some sense and come to "LIFE." Her influence has inspired me to want to do this, "Welcome! I am your science teacher, Mr. Jones. It is my hope that by the end of the year you will not only have a better understanding of science, but come to appreciate it and perhaps love it as I have come to do over the years. So let us begin..."
Now that you know a little bit about me, I look forward to working with and getting to know you throughout our time together in room 302. So, let us now begin to explore the wonders of science together and make this a year of EUREKA moments!
